Midwife Love is an ACNM "Best Practice"

12/17/2024

Did you know Midwife Love has won national awards in 2 categories this year? ACNM grants "Best practice awards" by comparing birth statistics from practices all over the country. Our awards were: A VERY LOW RATE OF PRIMARY C-SECTION (people needing their first c/s), and A VERY LOW RATE OF C-SECTION IN FIRST TIMERS WITH A HEAD DOWN BABY. All of this to say, we excel in normal, physiological birth rates. We know how to hold sacred space, decrease fear, and allow you to freedom to birth.
How do we do this? We have patience with pregnancy due dates and are not rushing you to have the baby by your due date or even 41 weeks. We have patience with labor timelines and know that every body is different in how quickly birth goes. We encourage movement and upright positions for birth. We assess baby's position throughout labor and recommend certain positions that your baby needs to rotate and descend through your pelvis. We speak words of love, encouragement, and reassurance NOT FEAR during your labor and birth. This helps you relax and surrender to labor. We are experienced midwives who want a sacred, safe, and beautiful birth for you, and we work hard for that. During prenatal visits, we teach you about normal birth and demonstrate exercises to get your body balanced and loose to make your birth easier. We know local bodyworkers if you are experiencing imbalances or pain in your body as well.

If you're looking for a physiologic normal birth, you've found the right place.

Introducing our collaborating physician: Dr. Nathan Riley, OB/GYN

Did you know that Florida is one of 11 very restrictive states that require a collaborating doctor for Nurse Midwives (CNMs) and Nurse Practitioners (APRNs)? I have been a midwife for over 20 years, and yet must always keep a doctor on retainer, unlike 39 other states where Nurse Midwives can practice independently, to the full extent of their training. I have maintained a collaborating doctor this entire time and always update it with the state. I hope we get the law changed one day to give Nurse Midwives the autonomy they deserve.
I wanted to introduce our collaborating physician: Dr. Nathan Riley. He is an OB/GYN who is very supportive of homebirth and midwives. He is also a father and a husband and understands holistic nutrition and exercise. Midwife Love retains him as a collaborating physician to consult with as needed for interesting complications that may arise. He hosts an annual training conference on breech and twin birth. He also has a podcast with great info. Many thanks to him for supporting us in this important, sacred calling. You can access his Born Free Podcast here:
Midwife Love is fortunate to have him on speed dial whenever we have a question or want a 2nd opinion. We also collaborate as needed and desired with local Maternal Fetal Medicine doctors (MFMs) or perinatalogists. They can do advanced ultrasound diagnostics for special cases. They specialize in higher risk pregnancies like twins.
We are happy to have a great team here at Midwife Love with so much expertise and wisdom.

What our clients are saying:

"Where to start?! This team is incredible and I will be forever grateful for the role they played on our family history. This super down to earth midwife that makes you so comfortable that the moment I meet her I knew we were a good fit. My husband, was a bit concerned about home birth, he quickly realized how knowledgeable and professional she is. Midwife Love was the team we wanted for our birth. We enjoyed all the prenatal visits. All of our questions were answered, they gave us so much information and made us prepared parents which is one of the things I personally loved about how they do business. My birth was everything I planned and prayed for. An amazing life changing experience that will stay with our family forever. I felt blessed. My birth team was amazing. If you are considering a midwife I would highly recommend these girls. Angela and Becky, you girls are incredible. Thank you for the work you do and thank you for doing with so much love and care. Until my next one!"-Ellen Didinha
